I lie awake at night
To ponder the shape of the world.
I find only discontent and worry
From what I know:
More people are hungry
More people are poor.
More people fight.
More people die.
More people hate,
And more people just don't care.
What good there is in the world
Is falling apart.
And I do not know
What to do.
But you tug at my arm
Clutching it tightly in your sleep.
And I remember you are there,
Your graceful form next to mine.
Then I realize
I can still live in this world.
